They do typically sell out, so please reserve early)

 

  • Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times, including events.
  • Reserve these early, as tickets are sold on a first come basis and some events are limited.
  • Take advantage of these great opportunities to socialize with fellow beekeepers and short course and conference speakers. 
  • Guests not attending the conference are welcome and can be added to the registration

 

Monday, August 13: St. George’s Brewing Company Tour (FREE Event)

Tour a local brewery while learning about the partnership that one backyard beekeeper cultivated into a small business.  Sample craft beers, including honey lager made with honey from the onsite apiary, while enjoying music and offerings from local food trucks. Brewery is 5.5 miles from HRCC, about a 14-minute drive.

 

Tuesday, August 14: Miss Hampton II Harbor Cruise (registration required)

Join us aboard the Miss Hampton II for a nautical experience showcasing the 400-year history of the Hampton Roads harbor. Snacks and cash bar available on board. The dock is 3 miles from HRCC; a 10-minute drive.

 

Wednesday, August 15: Beekeeper Beach Bash & Barbeque at Paradise Ocean Club (registration required)

Beach party and picnic at the Paradise Ocean Club.  The private dining shelter, Olympic-size pool, private beach and Tiki Bar will provide loads of fun for everyone. Ticket includes all-day pass to Paradise Ocean Club. Club is 7 miles from HRCC, about a 20-minute drive.

 

Wednesday, August 15: Screening of "Queen of the Sun" (FREE event & Open to the Public)

Hampton Roads Convention Center, Ballroom ABC

7:30 pm to 9:00 pm

Relax at the Convention Center with a few dozen, or more, of your closest friends and enjoy the award-winning film with beekeeper discussion to follow.

Thursday, August 16: Jamestown All-Day Field Trip (registration required)    

Jamestown, Virginia

8 am to 5 pm Meet in Lobby of HRCC at 8 am

Visit Historic Jamestown and Jamestown Settlement to explore the world of America’s first permanent English colony and the Powhatan Indian, English and West African cultures that converged in the 17th century. Lunch is own your own at the Settlement Cafe

Thursday, August 16: Tea with Celia Davis, NDB (registration required)

Mercury Ballroom Embassy Suites Hotel

4 pm to 5 pm

Join Celia Davis, NDB, author and keynote speaker for a conversation about beekeeping in the British Isles. Tea with Assorted Finger Sandwiches, Fresh Baked Cookies, Blueberry Scones, Tea Cakes and Sliced Seasonal Fruit. (limited to 40 people)
